How to Build a Consistent Home Practice

Practicing at the studio is wonderful because the environment naturally cultivates focus. But establishing a home practice is where the real transformation often happens.

Here are a few tips to help you stay consistent at home:

1. Carve Out a Dedicated Space You don't need a massive room. Just find a quiet corner where you can leave your mat rolled out or easily accessible. Keep it clean and free of clutter.

2. Start Small Don't pressure yourself to do a 60-minute intense flow. Commit to 10 minutes a day. Often, once you are on the mat, you'll want to stay longer. But if 10 minutes is all you have, it's still highly beneficial.

3. Practice at the Same Time Whether it's first thing in the morning or right before bed, attaching your yoga practice to an existing habit helps cement it into your routine.

4. Let Go of Perfection Your home practice doesn't need to look like a perfectly sequenced studio class. If all you do is lay in child's pose and take 20 deep breaths, that is a successful practice.
